Description

The Raffles Butterflyfish is suited for the intermediate aquarist. It is a peaceful species and is also referred to as the Latticed Butterflyfish. It has a bright yellow body with dark scale margins giving it a lattice appearance. It also has a black eye band, a blue patch between its eyes and a vertical black stripe on its tail.

This species is native to many areas within the Indo-Pacific region.

They are a good match with many other peaceful fish. The Raffles Butterflyfish can be housed with other butterfly fish. It is recommended that they are kept in small groups of three to four. Avoid housing them with other territorial species or those who prey on smaller fish. They are not reef safe as they nip at corals and small invertebrates.

 

Feeding:

Raffles Butterflyfish are omnivores so their diet should consist of a variety of foods including Mysis shrimp, black worms and flake foods including spirulina.

Raffles Butterflyfish require a minimum tank size of approximately 200L as they are active swimmers so require large open areas to swim. They also like places to hide and feed in crevices so rocks are a great addition along with some algae growth.
