Description

Very popular community fish, also useful for snail control. These fish are easy to care for and absolutely beautiful. This makes them a great choice for beginners who want to add a splash of color to their tank. Clown Loach is a shoaling fish, best kept in a group. Sensitive to "white spot disease". Provide some hiding places such as driftwood or cave-like structures.

Features of Clown Loach:

  • Orange and black striped body, red fins
  • The dorsal line is curved while the bottom of the fish is flat
  • The mouth of clown loach is similar to catfish and other loaches
  • They are peaceful and hardy fish

The Best Aquarium Size for Clown Loach:

Depends on the size of Clown Loach, you could start with a 30L aquarium for a small group of juveniles. You’ll likely need much larger tanks if you’re planning on introducing some tank mates and maybe even more Loaches.

Tank Mate Compatibility:

It is highly recommended that these fish are kept in social groups. It’s important to put them with fish that have similar needs and temperature. Avoid keeping Clown Loach with highly aggressive fish, long fins, goldfish, snails, shrimp. Shrimp and snails will just be a tasty snack for a clown loach.

Feeding :

The omnivorous Clown Loach eats all kinds of fresh, frozen, dry flakes and pellets without any issues. One of the best ways to go is by providing sinking pellets and algae wafers as their main diet staple. In addition to dried food, you can provide Clown Loaches occasional live, freeze-dried, or frozen foods as snacks. They enjoy earthworms and bloodworms. Brine shrimp works well, too. Be wary of overfeeding.

Clown Loach Tank Guide:

Filtration System :

Don’t forget to create a moderate current as well. You can use the outlet from your filtration system or a dedicated water pump. The current doesn’t have to be super strong, but some steady and constant movement is essential.

Substrate:

Fine sand littered with smooth pebbles. These are bottom-feeder fish, so avoid any hard gravel that could injure their belly as they scavenge for food.

Plants for Loaches:

Loaches love a well-decorated tank filled with plants and natural hiding spots.
