Features of Discus:

  • Its body is very compressed on the sides, it has a disk-shaped profile and its fins are large and elegant
  • It is a species characterised by iridescence, streaks and vertical bands and can have different colours: white, yellow, orange, red, blue, blue and green, brown and black

 

The Best Aquarium Size for Discus:

A 40L tank is the minmum size for keeping a single discus fish. It is important to note that discus fish like staying in a group of 5-6 and it is not recommended to keep them isolated in a tank.

Aquarium Filtration

Filtration is extremely important. Discus fish prefer a filter that provides 1 time per hour turnover. They also prefer calm water.

Aquarium Plants for Discus

Plants are beneficial in helping to maintain good water quality and adding enrichment to a fish’s diet. When spawning; in fact, they prefer laying their eggs on vertical, broad-leafed plants.

Heater

Lighting
