Description

The Lemon Tetra is a peaceful & hardy shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 6 or more. Suited to beginner aquarists this energetic fish adds a pop of colour to your aquarium. 

Lemon tetras are native to South America and inhabit parts of the Amazon River

 

Features of Lemon Tetra's:

  • Transparent body that shines with a red eye
  • A fine black line on the caudal fin
  • Bold black line on anal fins with bright yellow section, more prominent in males
  • Classic diamond shaped "tetra" body slightly deeper bodied
  • Energetic and active swimmers 
  • Grows up to 5cm


The Best Aquarium Size for Lemon Tetra's:

The minimum tank size for a small group of Neon Black Tetra's is 50L. The Lemon Tetra will occupy the top to middle water column in the aquarium. They are active swimmers so if keeper a group larger than 6, opt for a larger aquarium.

The Lemon Tetra are a shoaling fish and should be kept in schools of 6 or more. This species does well with other similarly sized and peaceful community fish.

Feeding :

Lemon Tetra's are omnivores and should have a varied diet for optimal health. They will accept flakes and pellets, and their diet should be supplemented with spirulina, blackworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
